Využili sme jednu zo zážitkových aktivít a zistili, že rómsky žiak (Paťko) zbil ostatných, pretože sa mu vysmievali pre jeho rečovú vadu. Paťko mal problém s hovorením a artikuláciou a ako neskôr vysvetlila učiteľka, asi preto nerád čítal a písal. Radšej dostal zlú známku len preto, aby nemusel pred celou triedou čítať alebo rozprávať. Doma som premýšľala a na ďalší deň som prišla za učiteľkou s návrhom – budem pracovať s Paťkom individuálne počas hodín čítania a k deťom sa pripojí až po prekonaní svojej bariéry. Učiteľka súhlasila a priebežne sme sa informovali, ako to s Paťkovým čítaním vyzerá. Na individuálnych hodinách som využila metódu animovanej projekcie- s Paťkom sme tvarovali z modulitu písmená, opisovali ich a nakoniec vyfarbili. Po týždni sme z maľovaných písmeniek skladali slabiky a slová, ktoré Paťko prečítal. Keďže trpel veľkou dávkou menejcennosti, nahrávala som ho na magnetofón a púšťala mu spätne nahrávku. Zistil, že nečíta až tak zle a motivovalo ho o venovať sa hraniu s maľovanými písmenkami viac. Niekedy sme si menili úlohy- on skladal slová mne a ja som ich mala prečítať. Náročky som ho zavádzala a kontrolovala tak, či slovo dobre prečítal. Po troch mesiacoch, počas ktorých jeho učiteľka aktívne pracovala s ostatnými deťmi na odstránení predsudkov cez zážitkové aktivity, bol Paťko po prvýkrát na hodine spolu s ostatnými spolužiakmi a prečítal nahlas básničku. Napriek tomu, že bola s malými chybami, všetky deti mu tlieskali. Dokonca mu pripravili malý darček, ktorý vyrobili spolu s učiteľkou. S odstupom času bolo fantastické vidieť, že Paťko sa v triede nielenže nebije, ale dokonca sa na spolužiakov teší. V takýchto chvíľach naozaj cítim, že vykonávam svoju profesiu – pomáham. Ale najväčšiu zásluhu má aj tak jeho učiteľka. Keby za mnou neprišla a nepochopila, že je nevyhnutný alternatívny postup, tak dnes Paťko naďalej bije deti a sedí v poslednej lavici druhého ročníka po tretí rok.“

V každej profesii je evidentné, že nové výzvy si vyžadujú nové prístupy. V školstve však akoby táto skutočnosť neplatila.
